Sjögren’s syndrome

Henry W. Wright’s conditional profile

Wright considers a spiritual profile of Sjögren's syndrome conditionally, through its autoimmune similarity to scleroderma.

If, in a particular history, Sjögren's corresponds to the scleroderma profile considered by Wright, extreme self-rejection, self-hatred, or strong guilt is a possible starting point.

In Wright's model, autoimmune disease reflects a conflict directed against oneself: the immune system reacts against the body's own tissues, and inflammation becomes part of this picture.

Sjögren's syndrome: Wright describes it as a chronic, systemic inflammatory process with characteristic dryness of the mouth, eyes, and other mucous membranes.

Spiritual response

Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment; name self-rejection, self-hatred, or guilt that is actually present; renounce false accusation against oneself; receive God's forgiveness, love, and identity in Christ; pray for reconciliation with oneself and for healing of the body.

Wright notes that the point of entry and the person's history may vary.
