Environmental illness (MCS)
Henry W. Wright’s perspective
Possible spiritual roots
A broken heart / a deep relational wound in the profile described by Wright.
Insecurity, distrust, fear, and anxiety develop from the broken heart.
The body remains in a chronic fight-or-flight response. Wright describes an escalating general adaptation syndrome instead of a return to rest.
The author connects chronic fear and anxiety with weakened immunity, increasing allergic reactions, and further secondary problems.
Spiritual response
The spiritual response involves bringing the broken heart to Jesus, forgiveness, rejecting fear and distrust, and receiving the safety and love of God the Father. Prayer may include the healing of wounds, deliverance from spiritual oppression, and renewal of the capacity for safe relationships.
