Frank and Ida Mae Hammond
Practical deliverance ministry rooted in the ministry of Jesus
Description
Who they were
Frank and Ida Mae Hammond were American pastors, authors and pioneers of contemporary deliverance ministry. For many years they combined pastoral ministry with prayer for deliverance and preparing other Christians for this ministry.
Key teaching
Their best-known book, “Pigs in the Parlor”, presents the practical application of deliverance ministry following the pattern of Jesus' ministry. The Hammonds describe recognising the need for deliverance, possible ways for demonic influences to gain access, groups of related spirits, obstacles to deliverance and maintaining regained freedom. In separate materials they address, among other subjects, rejection, curses, soul ties, familiar spirits, unbelief, passivity, the effects of sexual sins and forgiveness.
Significance for the library
Their work is an independent source of teaching on deliverance. It helps identify which subjects also appear in Derek Prince and other authors, without combining different approaches into a single teaching. The Hammonds consistently direct attention towards the authority of Jesus Christ, repentance, forgiveness and closing identified spiritual doors.
