Repeated miscarriages
A possible family and spiritual pattern
Description
Derek Prince places repeated miscarriages and related female problems third on his list of common indications of a curse. He points to the biblical picture of blessing or curse upon the “fruit of the womb” in Deuteronomy 28:4,18 and to the promise in Exodus 23:26.
In “Invisible Barriers to Healing,” he says that he and Ruth prayed in such cases for release from a curse. He recounts testimonies of women who were later able to conceive and bear children and also experienced healing from other female problems. Prince presents these accounts as testimonies of God’s work, not as a guarantee that every situation will follow the same course.
Recurrence is important: several losses experienced by one woman, a similar pattern in the family, or other indications from Prince’s list appearing alongside it. A single miscarriage is not automatic proof of a curse and must never be presented as the woman’s or couple’s fault or as punishment for their sin. After a loss, people need compassion, time to grieve, and rejection of false accusation.
The spiritual response leads through Jesus Christ: identify the actual root, forgive and repent where needed, renounce confirmed ties or words, and pray for deliverance, healing, fertility, peace, and the blessing of life. Prayer has real significance and may go together with appropriate medical care.
Symptoms / signs
Repeated miscarriages or successive pregnancy losses; infertility or difficulty conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to term; other recurring female problems; similar experiences among mothers, sisters, grandmothers, or across several generations; the presence of other family indications from Prince’s list; growing fear, grief, and loss of hope after successive losses.
Possible roots / causes
Prince does not assign every miscarriage one automatic root. In his wider teaching, the person’s actual history is examined for disobedience to God, occultism or idolatry, destructive words, oaths and covenants, wrong dedications or spiritual ties, and unforgiveness. Each point must be confirmed in the person’s or family’s history.
Doors / context
What matters is precisely what recurs, since when, in whom, and across how many generations, and whether other indications named by Prince are present. Only against this background should confirmed destructive words, oaths, occult practices, idolatry, unforgiveness, or other spiritual commitments be considered.
Effects
Grief and trauma after loss, fear of another pregnancy, shame or false guilt, strain in the marriage, anger toward oneself, one’s spouse, or God, and loss of hope.
Help / what next
After a loss, closeness, compassion, and room for grief come first. In prayer, shame and false accusation can be rejected, injuries forgiven, and only what has actually been identified renounced. On the basis of Galatians 3:13–14, redemption in Jesus Christ can be proclaimed and prayer offered for deliverance, healing, peace, fertility, and the blessing of life.
