Work According to God’s Plan

“It is God who works in you” — Philippians 2:13.

God does not have two paths for any of us, but one. He does not set before us two tasks from which we may choose, but one best and highest choice. What a blessing it is to discover and fulfil God’s perfect will! What a blessing it is to have our lives ordered and our Christian work arranged according to His plan!

Much strength is lost by working at random. Much spiritual power is wasted on fruitless effort and on scattered, vague, and inconsistent attempts to do good. In the hands and hearts of the devoted Christians of our day, there is enough spiritual power and financial strength to bring about Christ’s coming and the evangelization of the world within a generation—if only these resources were wisely directed and used according to God’s plan.

Christ has laid down a definite plan of work for His Church. He expects us to understand it and work according to it. As we grasp His purpose and fulfil it obediently and faithfully, our work will achieve its aim and please Him far more than thoughtless, reckless, and indiscriminate attempts to carry out our own ideas and compel God to bless our work.
