Represent Your Lord
A.B. Simpson
“You will be as God to him” — Exodus 4:16.
This was God’s promise to Moses, and this was the exalted role Moses was to fulfil toward his brother Aaron. Does it not point to a high and glorious calling that each of us may fulfil toward everyone we meet: to represent God?
What dignity and glory our lives would have if we consistently remembered this high calling! How it would shape our conduct toward others! God can always be depended on. In Him there is no variation or shadow of change. His word is unchanging, and we can trust Him without reservation or doubt. May we live so that people can trust us as they trust God!
God also has no needs or wants for anyone to supply. He is always giving. He is “generous to all who call upon Him.” The glory of His nature is love: selfless love and goodness toward all His creatures. The divine life is a life that forgets itself and has nothing to do but love and bless.
Let us live this way, representing our Master here while He represents us before the throne in heaven.
