Hold On to What You Have Received
A.B. Simpson
“Hold fast until I come” — Revelation 2:25.
The other day, we asked a Jewish friend how his countrymen were so successful at accumulating wealth. “Ah,” he answered, “we do not earn more than other people, but we keep more.”
Beloved, let us watch today for spiritual pickpockets and for the ways our spiritual riches slip away. Let us “lose none of what we have worked for, but receive a full reward.” As each day comes and goes, let us place its treasures of grace and victory in the savings bank of eternity. Then, day by day, we will know that something real and lasting is being added to our eternal wealth.
It may be only a little. Yet if we make good use of everything God gives us and entrust it to His care, we will be amazed at life’s end to see how many treasures a well-spent life has stored up in heaven. We will also see how much more He has added by His glorious investment of the life entrusted to His keeping.
How much these days count! How precious these golden hours will seem to us one day! May God help us make the most of them now.
