Be Faithful to Your Ministry

“The body does not consist of one member, but of many” — 1 Corinthians 12:14.
We have a friend who uses a phonograph to dictate his correspondence. The device has two parts. The first is a simple yet remarkable mechanism: its sensitive cylinders record the sound of the voice and then reproduce it, word for word, through a listening tube. The second is an ordinary little box under the table. Its only task is to supply power through connecting wires.
That little box might insist on being the phonograph itself and doing the talking. But if it did, it would not only waste its own life; it would also destroy the life of its partner.
Its task is to supply power to the phonograph, while the phonograph’s task is to speak. In the same way, some of us are called to be voices speaking for God to others. Others are called to sustain them through spiritual support and quiet prayer. Some of us are little dynamos under the table, while others are phonographs that proclaim heaven’s messages aloud.
Let each of us be faithful to the ministry God has entrusted to us. When that day comes, our work will be weighed and rewards will be given.
