Molech / Moloch

Idolatry and child sacrifice

Point of discernment

The Bible speaks of Molech in the context of giving one’s offspring to a foreign deity. Leviticus 18:21 and 20:2–5 forbid this practice, while 2 Kings 23:10 connects Topheth with making sons and daughters pass through fire. The biblical core is unambiguous: idolatry joined to harm and the sacrifice of children.

Present pattern

The Bible does not provide a catalogue of “symptoms of a Molech spirit.” What can be recognized is the actual cultic pattern: worship of a foreign deity, dedication of offspring, rituals, and violence against children.

Possible root

The direct context is participation in the worship of Molech. In Prince’s broader discernment, conscious idolatry, sacrifices, rituals, and occult practices are significant.

Effect

Idolatrous bondage, violence against children, broken faithfulness to God, and wounds of grief, guilt, or shame in family history.

Discernment without accusation

Examine concrete facts: worship, rituals, dedications, and conscious participation. In a history of abortion, distinguish personal responsibility, coercion, abuse, and loss; do not condemn or blame a victim of violence.

Spiritual response

Renounce Molech, idolatry, sacrifices, and every related oath or ritual; repent of personal conscious participation; receive forgiveness and cleansing in Jesus; entrust the deceased child, grief, shame, and pain to God; pray for deliverance and healing of the person and family.
